Medicine Buddha

Medicine Buddha, or Bhaisajyaguru, is considered the Buddha of healing – for physical spiritual and emotional ailments, but primarily he has the ability to heal the unhappiness caused by delusion. It is painted with acrylic paint, mineral colors, inks, and real gold. Medicinal plants surround him as a border, and flowers encircle his aureole. In his left hand he holds the elixir of immortality, in his right the myrobalan plant, symbolizing healing. He is seated on a white moon disk, supported by a lotus throne.
